GCU Learning Lounge

As part of our community outreach efforts, the GCU Learning Lounge® is proud to offer free in-person and online tutoring to kindergarten through 12th grade students. Whether it’s a deep dive or quick question, we strive to support a variety of academic needs at the elementary, middle and high school levels for both Spanish and English speakers, at no cost to the students or families.

Our team is comprised of more than 30 Learning Advocates (LEADs) and Grand Canyon University leadership, who all possess a passion to serve and help the next generation of learners.

Our LEADs are dedicated GCU scholars, specially trained to assist kindergarten through 12th grade students. They excel in a variety of mathematics, reading, writing and science subjects. We have both Spanish- and English-speaking LEADs.

In-Person Tutoring: We have two physical locations that offer individual and group tutoring options on a first-come, first-served basis. Beyond academic assistance services, there are study areas with oversized couches and chairs, free technology access and many other amenities.

Where is the Learning Lounge at GCU?

The GCU Learning Lounge is located in Canyon Venture Building 66, on 27th Avenue and Camelback Road. When entering the building, stop by the reception desk. From there, you’ll walk straight back and find the Lounge on the left.

Where is parking/drop off entrance?

Parking is available in the 27th Avenue Parking Garage Building 70 or in the surface lots to the west of Canyon Venture Building 66. Enter at the main entrance off 27th Avenue and Camelback Road. Student drop off is also available past the guard stand at this location.

What do I say at the guard stand?

Let GCU Public Safety know you’re a visitor, there to receive assistance from the Learning Lounge. They may ask to see identification. High school students need to bring some form of identification (e.g. driver’s license, school ID, etc.).

Where is parking/drop off and the entrance?

Make your way to the Brewers parking lot on 53rd Avenue, on the south side of the building. There you will enter through the double doors on the far right side of the building on the south side.

Where is the Learning Lounge at the ballpark?

The Learning Lounge in American Family Fields of Phoenix is located in the main, large building. Use the south side of the building and enter the doors on the far right. There you will see the reception area and front desk LEADs who will help you get signed in.

Students should bring whatever homework or projects they need help with. If they have no materials to work with, they should come with an understanding of what they need to work on or skills to improve. High school students also need to bring some form of identification (e.g. driver’s license, school ID, etc.).

Students in kindergarten through 5th grade require a chaperone, which can include a sibling in high school. Chaperones not also receiving assistance from the Learning Lounge need to leave their student(s) during their learning session and remain in the hallway. At each location’s entrance there is a check-in desk with GCU staff. Please make sure all guests, including parents and students, check in and out when entering and leaving each time.

We do our best to ensure the safety of all Learning Lounge students. For this reason, our handbook, which must be acknowledged and abided by all visitors, outlines a variety of protocols and guidelines set in place to address everyone’s safety. Additionally, all students are required to have supervision by a Learning Lounge LEAD, both inside and outside our facilities.

The Learning Lounge hours of operations are not impacted by most games or special events. If you have any questions due to these circumstances, please call us before coming to either location.

Entrance to either location does not extend to entrance to any games or special events. Please follow any adjusted parking instructions in and/or around the facilities, and allow for additional travel or wait times if needed.

Any common topics or study materials covered in K-12 schools are supported. Please make sure to check the hours of operation to ensure your needs will be covered, as certain days and/or locations are dedicated to different grade levels.
