Dwight Farris
Instructor, College of Engineering and Technology
Hello Everyone, I am Dwight Farris. I began my successful 25-year engineering and IT career as an Electronics Technician in the US Navy, where I worked as a Radar and Navigation maintenance tech aboard combat ships. After many shipboard deployments, combat experience in Kuwait, and an honorable discharge, I worked for the FedEx Corporation in Minnesota as a Systems Engineer, System Administrator, and DBA. After nearly nine years, I changed companies due to reorganization and was contracted for two years to Achieve Healthcare, a company that developed software for hospitals and clinics. My primary job was programming development in Java and website support/maintenance. After the Achieve contract ended, I was hired by Target Corporation as a Network Security Engineer, where I helped to upgrade all corporate and in-store wireless network systems. I then decided to further my education and moved to Arizona to pursue graduate degrees. My current education includes BS’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of AZ and IT from the University of Phoenix, MsEd Tech from the University of AZ, and a Ph.D. in Psychology, emphasizing education, technology, and psychology from Grand Canyon University (GCU). I have taught for seven years at several institutions, primarily at GCU.
