“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20
When moving to college and being on your own for the first time, it can often be difficult to keep your faith and regularly spend time with God, especially if you are surrounded by people who do not have the same beliefs as you do. Here are some ways to help you keep your faith in college.
Prioritize Time With God
Set aside time during your day to spend with God. Make sure you are reading your Bible, listening to worship music and praying. Remember to thank God for all of the good things going on in your life. Ask him for help in times of struggle. No matter what you are going through, remember to talk to him.
”Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2
Get Connected With Others in a Godly Community
Surround yourself with people of your same faith. Join bible studies and make friends who will support you in your walk with God. If you surround yourself with positive, uplifting people, you will be happier and grow closer to God together. They will not judge you; they will help lead you closer to God and those are the friends that everyone needs.
Distance Yourself From People Who Bring You Down
You will run into people who bring you down and drain you emotionally. Whether it be people you encounter at work or friends that you have in your life, people will try to bring you down. Distance yourself from the people that make you feel bad about yourself or your faith.
“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33
Find a Good Church
Get involved in a good church and get connected to other people within the church. Going to church every Sunday while in college will help you stay connected to God and help you to connect with other people of faith.
