Weekly Devotional: Living Fearlessly Every Day
“The LORD is for me; I will not fear; what can man do to me” – Psalm 118:6
The phrase “do not be afraid” shows up in the Bible 365 times. God tells us that we have no need to fear, yet we do it anyway. What do we have to fear if God tells us not to? Why do we go against his word and fear anyway? We have nothing to be afraid of.
What Do We Truly Have To Fear?
We are constantly afraid of the smallest things. Whether it be height, the darkness, spiders, snakes or anything else. We are afraid of the smallest things and things that God created. He created the world and everything in it. Everything has a purpose and is for the goodness of God and we should not fear.
Not only do we fear the little things, but the big things as well, such as things like losing our jobs, rejection and diseases. We fear so many things and are constantly living our lives in a state of fear. We need to remember that God is in control and that we should not fear anything, big or small.
“Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea” – Psalm 46:2
God Is Always With Us
God is always watching over us and taking care of us. Even though we cannot see him, he is still right by our side. He is constantly protecting us and guiding us through every second of every day. He only wants the best for our lives.
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.” – Isaiah 12:2
He Is In Control
He always has a plan for our lives. He knows where each and every one of us are headed. He has given every single person on this earth a purpose. Every living being has a purpose and he has a plan for everyone. His plan will prevail, if we follow him and trust him.
“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” – Deuteronomy 31:8
All We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself
We have nothing to be afraid of. If God is in control, he will not let anything hurt us. He has a plan for our lives and he will see it through, no matter what. We fear things for no reason. We worry when it is unnecessary. Fear does not benefit us in any way. We should start to fear less and trust more, and our lives will be so much happier.
“Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident” – Psalm 27:3
