Weekly Devotional: Remember Whose You Are
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12
Sometimes we do not know where our identity comes from. Yes, we are our own person, but do we mean more? Do we have a greater purpose? Do we belong to something greater? These are all questions that we tend to ask ourselves at some point in our lives. We sometimes feel lost and forget to look in the right places to find our identity.
When You Are Lost
When you feel lost, God is still right by your side. He has a plan for your life and he will see it through. When you are feeling lost, overwhelmed or scared, take a moment to yourself, take some deep breaths and pray about it. God is always listening. Take a few minutes to spend some quiet time with God, whether that is praying, reading your Bible or listening to music. Remind yourself that God is in control and that he is always by your side.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” – Matthew 6:25-26
You Are His Child
He will always take care of you. You are his child, his pride and joy. He loves you with his whole heart. He died for you, that is how much he loves you. Never forget that. He will always stand by your side and be there to protect you and cheer you on whenever you need him. Whether you realize it or not, he is always with you.
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” – John 1:12
Shine His Light
Remember that you are his child, spread his goodness and shine his light to those around you, especially to those who do not know him. Those are the people who need his love the most. Show others his goodness and that there is hope for a bright and loving future through him.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
He Will Direct Your Path
Through every situation, the good and the bad, God will direct your path and lead you in the right direction, the direction that he wants to take your life. He has a plan and he will lead you towards it. You have to trust him and trust that he knows what is best for your life.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” – Psalm 32:8
