Weekly Devotional: See God in Every Day
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” – Matthew 6:33
It is easy to coast through life feeling like we are on our own. We sometimes forget about God in certain situations when we are really busy and have a lot going on. To grow your relationship with him, it is important to be more intentional of your current relationship with him and noticing him in every moment of every day.
Actively Seek Him
Look for God in every situation daily. Whether it is big or small, look for him. If you are just walking down the street, look for the beautiful things he has made. When you are with your friends or family, thank him for putting those people in your life. Notice him in the small moments of life when you would not really think much of it. Try to notice more of his presence and what he has done for you.
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it." – Matthew 13:44-46
How Can You Implement Him into Your Life
Think of ways that you can implement God into your life a little more. Maybe this is putting on worship music in the car on your drive to work or praying about your day or week as you walk to class in the morning. You can read your bible or start a devotional as you wind down for the evening. Find a small way that you can implement God into your life a little more.
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." – Colossians 3:17
Pray in Good and Bad Times
When life is good and things are going well, when you ace that test or land that job, rejoice in the Lord and thank him for the blessings in your life, whether they are big or small. When the opposite happens and times are tough, pray to him and ask him for help and for healing. Lean on him to help you get through it and he will guide your path.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths." – Proverbs 3:5-6
How Is He Moving in Your Life?
What is God currently doing in your life? What changes are you seeing? Are you meeting new people? Finding new friends? Preparing to graduate? Looking for a new job? Whatever you are going through, notice what He is doing and how He is doing it. He gives you opportunities and takes them away for a reason, either to strengthen you or to help you. Notice what he is doing and thank Him for it.
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine." – Proverbs 3:9-10
