Weekly Devotional: Walking by Faith After Graduation
“I will walk by faith even when I cannot see.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Graduation season is here! Soon, many seniors will be walking across the stage and receiving the diplomas they have worked so hard for. But what about after graduation? What is next? We go through school since pre-K knowing that elementary is next, then middle school, then high school and then college. But what is after graduation?
That is the golden question.
Many times we feel like we are stumbling through the dark, just trying to find our way to the end. After graduation, it is as if the light at the end of the tunnel is too far away, and we are just running into walls and tripping over rocks.
But, God has a plan for us and it is more extravagant than we could even imagine. He knows each step we will take before we take them and what we will experience before we experience them. However, it would be nice if He could send us a heads up about what is to come or even just a little sneak peek.
Many times we only have a thirty-second trailer knowledge of what’s to come. We know enough to get us going and the basis of what is happening, but other than that we are blind.
God, on the other hand, knows the whole movie. He knows the beginning, middle, end and all the plot twists in between. He knows the exact time we will fall and the moment we will get back up.
Why doesn’t He give us the whole movie, just a trailer? Well, if we knew the whole movie of our lives, would we want to go forward? Or would we ask to bypass a few of the hardships and take the easy route to get to where we want to go? Would we even like His plan at that moment, before we had even started the journey?
Most likely we would want to rewrite the entire script of our lives for God to what we wanted, which wouldn’t be in our best interest. God knows us better than anyone, and if we didn’t experience His path for us, we wouldn’t end up where He knows we would want to be.
God sees the whole puzzle put together, while we see only a little piece. The moment you graduate, start His plan by picking two pieces and putting them together and go from there.
Walk by faith, and see where God leads you. That may be to a new state, country, job, position, etc. Whatever it is, know that God loves you and has your best interest at heart.
Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
