  1. Holistic Patient Care - Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences program will be able to evaluate and manage the needs of patients and identify the requirements of managing health care within their scope.
    • Explain culturally sensitive care and its application within health care.
    • Assess for the spiritual needs and provide appropriate interventions for individuals, families, and groups.
    • Explain the importance of preserving the integrity and human dignity in the care of all patients.
    • Evaluate the use of an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
  2. Communication - Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences program will be able to communicate professionally to produce positive working relationships with patients and health care team members.
    • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, families, and health care providers within the scope of practice.
    • Demonstrate effective skills in writing formal correspondence to communicate information and ideas.
    • Identify the principles of scientific communication.
    • Describe qualities of professional communication that contribute to appropriate interactions with family, patients, and other health care professionals.
  3. Risk Management and Ethics - Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences program will be able to demonstrate professional conduct with ethical and professional standards for health care practitioners.
    • Identify ethical and professional standards as they relate to legal, regulatory, and accreditation compliance within one's scope of practice.
    • Discuss compliance with risk management protocol.
    • Explain the ethical and legal responsibilities of health care professionals related to risk management assessment and policies.
    • Practice ethical behavior and moral decision-making when resolving ethical dilemmas.
  4. Leadership and Management - Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences program will be able to demonstrate a variety of leadership styles, theories, and approaches in diverse health care settings.
    • Apply the principles of organizational behavior and development in order to effectively contribute to the success of health care organizations.
    • Develop a clear vision that informs, inspires, and motivates others to achieve goals.
    • Participate in various professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and technological expertise in health care.
    • Identify how various leadership styles are impacted by personal, organizational, societal, multicultural, and global norms and values.
  5. Trends and Issues - Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences program will be able to apply strong evidence-based research to address current health care trends and issues.
    • Identify appropriate skills in dealing with health care trends and issues within one's scope of practice.
    • Participate in ongoing evidence-based research to deepen knowledge, expand skills, and incorporate new findings into practice.
