The Canyon Emerging Scholars (CES) program supports faculty-led research while mentoring students in practical problem-solving. Rooted in the Boyer model, it fosters applied, integrative and discovery-based learning with a strong emphasis on reflection, collaboration and community impact.
Canyon Creative
CES students can explore Canyon Creative, a collaborative group that applies classroom learning to hands-on creative projects. Canyon Creative is a student-led group in our College of Arts and Media that partners with businesses, nonprofits and campus departments to provide design services such as advertising, social media and film. The club builds community, mentorship and professional skills while inspiring students to use their creative gifts to serve others.
In fine arts, research is performance and performance is research. We, as artistic scholars, fulfill the function of standard academic research and also strive to create; that creation can be another form of academic performance and research. Learn about the fine arts performance research we are conducting here at Grand Canyon University, and read works from our published scholars. You can also explore how we ensure our quality research follows best practices.
The Center for Innovation in Research and Teaching (CIRT), instituted to ignite excellence at GCU, presents research supporting innovation in teaching and learning practices in higher education. This faculty-driven resource crosses disciplines and endeavors to meet the ever-changing demands of GCU’s diverse faculty.
Each year, CIRT releases the Journal of Instructional Research (JIR), a publication highlighting innovation and the scholarly spirit in postsecondary teaching, learning and assessment. Access the current and past JIR publications on their website.
As part of our commitment to quality research, scholarship and service and to promote substantial breakthroughs in higher education, GCU requires all research to undergo review by our Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure ethical compliance.
